ReturnVault is built so that your shopping history stays on your phone. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information.
Everything you put into ReturnVault — receipts, item names, prices, stores, purchase dates, return deadlines, receipt photos, your name and any settings — is stored locally on your device. None of it is uploaded to us, and we cannot see it. There is no account and no sign-up.
If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. You can also export everything as a JSON file, or erase it, from the Profile screen at any time.
One thing, and only when you choose it: when you photograph a receipt, the image is sent to our receipt-reading service so the text can be extracted.
You can use ReturnVault without this feature by entering receipts by hand. Nothing leaves your device in that case.
To stop our receipt-reading service being abused, we record for each scan: a random identifier generated by your installation of the app, the size of the image in bytes, the number of items found, whether the read succeeded, and the time. We do not record the image, the store, the item names or the prices.
That random identifier is not linked to your name, email, device identifier or any account. It is regenerated if you reinstall the app. These records are deleted after 30 days.
Each permission is optional. Declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working.
ReturnVault is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Because your data is on your device and not on our servers, you control it directly: export it or erase it from the Profile screen. For the limited scan records described above, contact us and we will delete any associated with your installation.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the CCPA, or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Given how little we hold, most requests are satisfied by the app’s own export and erase controls.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change in the app’s release notes.
